Plot

In this made-for-cable actioner a good-hearted social worker embarks upon a one-man crusade to save Miami teens from getting further involved with a gang of crack dealers. The social worker does this in large part to ease his own guilt at having been responsible for the death of his own son back when he was drinking heavily. Chains of Gold is a 1991 Made-for-TV crime drama/action film starring and co-written by John Travolta. It was directed by Rod Holcomb and included one of the early performances of Joseph Lawrence, who was nominated for Young Artist Award for his role in the movie.

The film was released as a direct-to-cable in United States, and had theatrical distribution in Germany. Producers released it to the DVD after 7 eight years from release of the film on December 15, 1998.

The film was shot in Miami, Florida, USA. It is the only film written by twice nominated Academy Award actor John Travolta.

Travolta appears as Scott Barnes, an alcoholic turned social worker who trying to rescue a kid named Tommy (played by Lawrence) from a brutal, vicious Crack Street Gang when he finds out he has begun selling crack in an organization called YIP, run by Carlos (Benjamin Bratt). Hector Elizondo has a part as Lieutenant Ortega.
