Chaney High School is one of two traditional public high schools in the city of Youngstown, Ohio. It is a part of the Youngstown City School District system.
Sports
Chaney's athletic teams are known as the Cowboys (Cowgirls for girls sports). For boys, they sponsor baseball, basketball, bowling, football, and track. For girls, they offer basketball, bowling, cheerleading, softball, volleyball, and track.
Although the football team has never won a state title (their best finish was a loss in the Division-III state championship game in 1997), they have gone on to produce several college and NFL standouts, such as former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL MVP Frank Sinkwich,[1] Jerry Olsavsky, Michael Zordich, Matt Cavanaugh, Anthony Floyd and current New York Jets wide reciever Brad Smith, and current Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Keilen Dykes.
They have also won more city titles than any other school, though in future seasons they will be unable to compete for this honor, as the Youngstown City Series has been dissolved after the 2006-2007 school year.
