Co-created by 4Kids Entertainment and Chaotice USA, the half-hour animated series Chaotic was, like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, inspired by a complex trading-card game. Unlike Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, however, the TV cartoon version of the game appeared several months before the actual game itself hit the toy stores. Basically, the plot involved teenaged Tom and his friends, who were devoted to the Chaotic trading card and online game. Using special passwords, the kids were able to actually enter the game, co-existing in both the "real world" and the parallel-dimension world of Chaotic, where they met the game characters and were able to "make the moves" for real. Bordering Chaotic was the land of Perim, where the various superpowered creatures and hideous monsters depicted on the cards in code form existed for real. Produced in Japan, the English-language version of Chaotic joined the Fox network's Saturday-morning animation manifest on September 30, 2006. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
