Charina is a genus of boas found predominantly in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico.

Taxonomy
Sources vary on how many species the genus contains. Some consider the Rubber Boa, (Charina bottae) to be the sole member of the genus, while recent research has included the Rosy Boa, (Charina (Lichanura) trivirgata). Some authors consider the subspecies of the Rubber Boa, the Southern Rubber Boa (Charina bottae umbratica) to have full species status as Charina umbratica. The strangest inclusion is that some authors consider the Calabar Python (Charina (Calabaria) reinhardtii) to be a member of the genus, despite that it is vastly different from either the Rubber Boa or the Rosy Boa and is found half way around the world from them.
