Charles Spence Bate, or Spence Bate, FRS (March 16, 1819 - July 29, 1889) was a British zoologist and dentist, who lived in Swansea and later Plymouth. He was an authority on the crustacea, and a frequent correspondent with Charles Darwin, mostly concerning their shared interest in barnacles. Together with J. O. Westwood, he wrote "A history of the British sessile-eyed Crustacea".
