Irish Literature Companion:

Charlotte Grace O'Brien

O'Brien, Charlotte Grace (1845-1909), novelist. Born in Cahirmoyle, Co. Limerick, she spent part of her childhood on the Continent with her father William Smith O'Brien and later lived in Ireland. Some of her early fiction, such as Dominick's Trials (1870), is sectarian, but her best novel, Light and Shade (1878), is conciliatory in outlook.
