Chazal
Chazal, חז"ל, is an acronym for the Hebrew "Chachameinu Zichronam Livracha", חכמינו זכרונם לברכה, literally "our sages of blessed memory". In rabbinic writings this generally refers to Talmudic sages, either collectively or individually.
