Cheese is an imaginary friend from the Cartoon Network television series Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends who is voiced by Candi Milo.
History
Besides the aforementioned "Mac Daddy", Cheese made a cameo in "The Big Picture" floating down a river of chocolate milk when Goo recounts in a flashback why the imaginary friends were missing from a picture from long ago.
Cheese next appeared in "Infernal Slumber", visiting a slumber party organized by Bloo at Mac's apartment when Goo is trying to contact "spirits" and her question of the "spirits'" desires, Cheese responds with the words "I like cereal", and when Terrence wakes up to tell Mac and his mother about what is going on, Cheese tells him "Quiet, doggy!" It is also revealed that he is photo-sensitive and ends up screaming in agony as seen when Eduardo takes a photograph of him. Finally Wilt gives him a smoothie that Cheese thinks is chocolate milk.
Cheese later appeared in "The Big Cheese", in
which Mr. Herriman sets the password to the house's security system without looking at the
number pad. Cheese is present, and is later able to sing the exact tones played by the number pad, allowing Mac to input the
correct number sequence after the entire population of the house is locked out, however, Cheese put his head right in front of
the botton "enter", causing him to hit various buttons and loosing the code. It is in this episode, Cheese shows an even more
annoying, chaotic, and distructive side in which he managed to distroy the fosters house and make the staff look insane. He also
claims that he has the following diseases: ringworm, gingivitis, scurvy, dandruff,
athlete's foot, a tapeworm, mange,
His next episode was "Cheese A Go-Go", which was part of Cartoon Network Invaded. Bloo thinks Cheese, saying "Gotta go..." ad nauseam through the episode, is an alien as seen from a tabloid magazine. This episode also shows an insane side of Cheese, as he managed to get everyone in jail and ruin the day for Frankie. In the last few moments of the episode, a voice from what seems to be an alien contacting Earth says 'Cheese' over and over. This leads people to believe that Cheese is possibly an alien. This is disproven in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy where the same aliens abduct Cheese (along with Ed, Chip, Slips, and Fred Fredburger) and suck out their brains.
A popular reason why Cheese kept on repeating, "GOTTA GO!" all day is because he is either facing a disorder, has to go to the
bathroom, or he is trying to run away from the aliens for mistaking him as dairy cheese (possibly a reference to the
Invaded episodes of Camp Lazlo and
During the July 4th marathon, a music video, named "Cheese Quest", ran featuring Cheese sucking on a video game cartridge, and entering his own video game. The music is a remixed version of all his sayings into a techno song. The video ended with Cheese saying "Another game." Now, this music video is played frequently during commercial breaks. This music video was also released on the season 2 DVD of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. It was later turned into a playable game.
He likes many things such as the fair, fishy crackers, cereal and chocolate milk; however, according to Mac, he is lactose intolerant. In addition, he performs simple tasks in bizarre ways, such as trying to drink his milk from a flowerpot instead of a glass, forgetting to swallow when his mouth is full, and sucking on a juice box long after it is empty. He is terrified of moving at high speed, as evidenced in "Mac Daddy" when Mac and Bloo try to take him for a downhill go-kart ride.
Relationships
Louise
Cheese's original creator. Just before Mac Daddy ended, it was revealed that Mac's neighbor, Louise, is responsible for creating Cheese himself. Their names together say Cheese Louise or "Geez Louise!"
Mac
Thinking he was the one who had imagined Cheese, Mac had no choice but to adopt him. Madame Foster agreed to keep him but she put Cheese under the same arrangement as Bloo. When Mac learnt that he hadn't created Cheese, he dedicated himself to ensuring Bloo doesn't get adopted. When they are together they are often called "Mac & Cheese".
Bloo
When he was confronted with Mac who told him Cheese was his brother, Bloo flew into denial, refusing to accept it. In the end, he accepted the fact and gained a love for Cheese, but then Mac explained that his neighbor, Louise, was the one who'd created Cheese. Since then, Bloo, like most of the other imaginary friends has no patience or concern regarding Cheese. Their names together are Bloo Cheese or "Blue cheese"
Frankie
She has developed a grudge against Cheese as he crashed into her whilst she brought cereal to the table. He also ruined every part of her day in Cheese A Go-Go. In the Big Cheese, she lost her temper with him and began shouting furiously, unaware that a camera crew was filming the whole thing.
Goo
One of the few people besides Louise who seems to understand Cheese in the slightest, Goo was able to coax him to reveal the passcode to enter the house in "The Big Cheese."
Cartoon Network Yes!
In summer of 2006, Cheese was a star in Cartoon Network's "Cartoon Network Yes!" advertising campaign along with
Fred Fredburger from
His lines were "I pooted!" from the episode "Mac Daddy" while Rodney's lines were "The hat sells the sandwich" from the episode "A Line in the Sandwich" and Ed's lines were "I'm a woodpecker. Except with dirt." from the episode "Stop, Look and Ed".
He appearantely makes appearances in many CartoonNetwork.Com games, and he's also been a popular character to merchandises such as t-shirts.
