Chelsea Reserves are the reserve team of Chelsea Football Club. They are members of the FA Premier Reserve League, Southern Division, although former manager Jose Mourinho once called for them to play in The Football League.[1] They have never won the competition. The team mainly consists of Under-21 players at the club, although senior players occasionally play in the reserve side, for instance when they are recovering from injury. The reserves team is coached by Paul Clement and the youth team is coached by Dermot Drummy. Frank Arnesen is the current chief scout and director of youth development and is largely responsible for recruiting young players to play in Chelsea's academy and youth/reserve teams.
The youth team was once regarded as one of the best, however little or no regular first team players have come out of the youth team recently since John Terry.
On the 11th May 2007, it was announced that the Chelsea Reserves will play their home games at Brentford's Griffin Park Stadium.[2] The Youth Team play their home games at the club's training ground near Cobham.
