Chesham and Amersham is a parliamentary constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.

It is a safe Conservative seat.

Boundaries

The constituency entirely encompasses the large suburban towns of Chesham and Amersham in Buckinghamshire, and outlying villages in the area.

History

The area is a blend of pleasant and leafy Green Belt land and urban settings. There are rapid transport links to central London via the London Underground.

As a result of the demographic makeup of the area, the constituency is solidly Conservative, and the party holds almost a 30% majority, with almost 55% of the vote. The next biggest party is the Liberal Democrats, with just over 25% of the vote.

The current Member of Parliament for Chesham and Amersham is the Conservative Cheryl Gillan. She has been in this position since 1992.
