Chintamani is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 865
Chintamani is also famous for Agarbatti manufacturing and export of the same. Jewelery market is also thriving in this town for many decades now.
The people here speak Telugu along with kannada Language. Kannada remains the official and administrative Language.
The nearest towns from Chintamani are Srinivaspur, Shidlagatta, Kolar, Bagepalli, Madanapalli (Andhra Pradesh), Berangi Kottakota (Andhra Pradesh). Horsly Hills is a few hours drive from Chintamani.
As of 2001 India census,[2] Chintamani had a population of 65,456. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Chintamani has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 73% and female literacy of 60%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is about 35 miles to the new Bangalore International airport.
