Chiryu (chēryū'), city (1990 pop. 54,059), Aichi prefecture, S central Honshu, Japan. The city was formed in 1970 by the merger of a number of smaller towns.

Chiryū (知立市 Chiryū-shi) is a city located in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on December 1, 1970.
