Chiyoda puts both brain and muscle power into the industrial plants that it designs and builds. Through a number of domestic and overseas subsidiaries and affiliates across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, the contractor provides engineering, procurement, construction, and project and asset management services primarily to the oil, gas, and chemical industries. Internationally, it specializes in designing and building liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants, including several in Qatar that are among the largest in the world and the first LNG plant in Russia. Chiyoda, established as part of Mitsubishi Oil in 1948, was spun off from its parent and went public in 1957. Mitsubishi owns about 33% of the company.
