choice reaction time

Sports Science and Medicine: choice reaction time

The reaction time for a task in which a performer has to make one of two or more choices. The performer may have to respond to one of several different stimuli (for example, the time it takes to choose which ball to hit with a racket when confronted with several balls at the same time), or may have to choose one of several responses to the same stimulus (for example, the time it takes to choose which shot to attempt in a racket game when the stimulus, a returned ball, is the same each time).
