Cholmondeley, Cheshire

Cholmondeley is a civil parish in the Crewe and Nantwich district of Cheshire, England, which lies to the north east of Malpas and to the west of Nantwich. It includes the settlements of Croxton Green and Dowse Green.[1] Nearby villages include Bickerton and Norbury. The A49 runs north–south through the parish.

Cholmondeley Castle is located at SJ 536 513 (4 miles from Malpas and 7¼ miles from Nantwich); within its park are Castle Hill and Moss Wood, as well as several meres, including Chapel Mere and Deer Park Mere. The Cholmondeley Arms public house, a converted schoolhouse on the A49, is included in the Good Pubs Guide.[2]

According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 136.[3]

The name is pronounced 'Chumley'.[1]
