Chris Traynor (b. June 22, 1973, in Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) is a guitarist. Chris co-founded the band Orange 9mm with Chaka Malik in 1992 at age 19. Coming out in the early '90s alongside Helmet and Quicksand , Orange 9mm amounted to the third, smallest jewel in New York's '90s metallic hardcore crown. They released a self-titled ep in 1994, followed by two full length efforts, "Driver Not Included" in 1995 and "Tragic" in 1996. Traynor then joined Helmet in 1997 as a live guitarist for the Aftertaste tour. In 1999 Traynor founded the indy rock band Champions of Sound with Quicksand bass player Sergio Vega and former supermodel, Sibyl Buck. Champions of Sound released a self titled ep in 2001 on indy label, Bubblecore. When Helmet founder Page Hamilton reformed Helmet in 2004, Traynor was the only other person from the former lineup who was involved. Traynor had previously played guitar on Bush's last tour. He was also the guitarist for Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale's later band, Institute, and later played guitar on Rossdale's 2008 solo album, WANDERlust.
