In delineating Christianity by country, the estimated number of Christians in the world ranges from 1.5 billion to 2.3 billion people[1]. Composed of around 34,000 different denominations, Christianity is the world's largest religion.[2] Christians have composed about 33 percent of the world's population for around 100 years.
Christianity is the predominant religion in Europe, Russia, the Americas, the Philippines, Southern Africa, Central Africa and East Africa.[3] There are also large Christian communities in other parts of the world, such as Central Asia, where Christianity is the second-largest religion after Islam. The United States is the largest Christian country in the world by population, followed by Brazil and Mexico[4].
Christianity, in one form or another, is the state religion of the following nations: Argentina (Roman Catholic Church)[5], Armenia (Armenian Apostolic Church)[6], Bolivia (Roman Catholic Church)[7], Costa Rica (Roman Catholic Church)[8], Denmark (Danish National Church)[9], El Salvador (Roman Catholic Church)[10], England (Church of England)[11], Greece (Church of Greece), Iceland (Church of Iceland)[12], Liechtenstein (Roman Catholic Church)[13], Malta (Roman Catholic Church)[14], Monaco (Roman Catholic Church)[15], Norway (Church of Norway)[16], Vatican City (Roman Catholic Church)[17], Switzerland (Roman Catholic Church, Swiss Reformed Church and Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland) and Georgia (Georgian Orthodox Church).

For instance, "Eastern Africa" includes most of the nations of East Africa, but also Zimbabwe, Madagascar Mozambique and Zambia. Angola is placed in Middle Africa, leaving this Southern Africa much smaller that the UN Southern Africa. Population figures and % of religious belief are from different sources, combined by the ARDA.
