Review

OK, here's a novelty. The CD is called Christmas Dulcimer Muzak, but it has nary a Christmas song on the album. Not one. Now, there's some pleasant instrumentals featuring mountain dulcimer, and listeners could certainly play them during the holiday season, but still, there's no inherent reason for calling this album anything like Christmas. Bzzzt. Wrong niche. If it's a marketing ploy, it's one likely to backfire when audiences actually listen to the selections. Also, this album is only one song different from Dulcimer Madness' other self-titled release. And that song is "Easy Love," a gentle, peaceful composition, but not a Christmas song either. This could also be titled The Christmas Album With No Christmas In It. Odd. That said, "Sunrise of Your Love" is actually a nice mood music selection, delicately evoking the tranquility of a beach at dawn. So yes, there's some worthwhile easy listening material on this album. It's simply been totally mislabeled when giving it a title that says "Christmas." ~ Murrday Fisher, All Music Guide
