Biography
Tall, good-looking French action hero and leading man Christopher Lambert is popular around the world, and in France, is particularly loved as a sex symbol. He was born in New York City, the son of a French psychiatrist and the former head of the United Nations Geneva division, but spent his youth in Geneva. Before entering the prestigious Paris Conservatoire to study acting, Lambert had worked with the London Stock Exchange. He remained there two years, but felt the program too constraining. After leaving, the aristocratic-looking Lambert appeared in Le Bar du Telephone and soon appeared in more films, but did not become a star until he played the leading role (in English) in Hugh Hudson's lush epic Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. (1984). Looking as good in period costumes as he did in a scanty loin cloth, Lambert soon found himself the newest sex symbol. He next appeared in Luc Besson's Subway (1985). In 1986, he played a sword-wielding immortal Scotsman who finds himself fighting evil in modern-day New York. Lambert also appeared in two sequels. Though he subsequently remained primarily an action star, Lambert occasionally showed up in other genres, including the romantic comedy Arlette (1997). ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

He is best known for his role as Connor MacLeod, or simply "The Highlander", from the movie and subsequent movie franchise series of the same name. Lambert has myopia and has great difficulty seeing without his glasses. Because he cannot wear contact lenses, he is often forced to act while virtually blind. This has led to injuries while performing his own stunts without glasses.[6]
Lambert is a close friend of Mario Van Peebles and Sean Connery. He has appeared in multiple films with both of them.
Lambert was director John Glen's first choice for the role of James Bond for The Living Daylights. But his french accent prevented him from getting the role.
Winery
Along with owning a mineral water business and food processing plant, Lambert produces Côtes-du-Rhône wines with partner Eric Beaumard. The vineyard is located in Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes, France. The label, Les Garrigues de Beaumard-Lambert, tops out at 4,000 cases and is sold mostly in Europe. Beaumard has primary creative control of the winery, but Lambert conducts barrel tests and monitors the various stages of evolution. [7]Novus Vinum gave his vintage 1998 Les Garrigues a score of 13/20.
