From concocting treatments for malaria and cancer to training Thailand's future scientific leaders, the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI) is on the job. Founded by and named after Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol (herself a scientist), CRI engages in research, training, and scientific exchange. The institute focuses on natural products, medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis, environmental toxicology, biomedical research, and biotechnology. CRI researches antimalarials and cancer antibodies, and provides a range of educational programs to scientists, academics, and government officials, among others. The institute also undertakes special activities like environmental restoration and mobile doctor programs.
