Iceland has had a notable cinema industry for some time. Major actors include Ingvar E. Sigurðsson and Hilmir Snær Guðnason. Famous films include the comedy 101 Reykjavík, which was released in 2000 and directed by Baltasar Kormákur. The film starred such actors as Victoria Abril and Hilmir Snær Guðnason.

Famous Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur also directed Hafið and A Little Trip to Heaven.
