Circus Smirkus
Circus Smirkus is a circus based in Greensboro, Vermont.
Started in 1987 by artistic director Rob Mermin, "Vermont's Own Homegrown Country Circus" is a
summer-long semi-professional touring circus for youths. Performers range in age from 10-20 and vary greatly in types of skills
and skill levels.
Typically, training and show creation lasts two weeks, beginning on or around June 1. The following 6 to 8 weeks are spent
touring, predominantly throughout New England.
Collaborations
In past years, there have been numerous collaborations between other circus groups and performers including:
- Moscow State Circus
- Great "Y" Circus, Redlands, California
- Midnight Circus, Chicago, Illinois
- Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus
- Marcel Marceau
- Zoppe Family Circus
- Pickle Family Circus
In 2000 the Disney Channel aired a series about life with Circus Smirkus entitled
Totally Circus.

Summer Camps
Every summer, Smirkus hosts one, or two week sessions for kids. Each time ends with a show for parents.
