Cirrus is a worldwide interbank network operated by MasterCard Worldwide, and was founded in 1986. It links MasterCard, Maestro, Diners Club credit, debit and prepaid cards to a network of over 1,000,000 ATMs in 93 countries.[1]

Maestro cards are, by default, linked to the Cirrus network, but very often, all three logotypes of the MasterCard family will be shown: MasterCard, Maestro and Cirrus. Canadian, American and Saudi Arabian ATMs use this network alongside their local networks, and many banks have adopted Cirrus as their international interbank network alongside either a local network, the rival Visa PLUS ATM network, or both. In locations such as India and Bangladesh, the Cirrus network also serves as a local interbank network as well as an international network.
