CityA.M. is a London-based free daily newspaper that specialises in financial news. It started in 2005, making it the first one of its type in the world — according to the owners of the paper. It is completely owned by CITYA.M. Limited. The paper covers business and finance news aimed at young business professionals in the City, with the format of a tabloid with lighter amount of text and more colourful pictures as well as having diary, lifestyle and sports sections.

At start, it was intended as a free rival to the likes of the Financial Times and Daily Telegraph business section. It is available from Monday to Friday each week in using both targeted distribution 'bins' (often placed inside businesses) in the City and as well as uniformed hand-distributors outside tube stations in the Central London area and at Canary Wharf and at the four airports of London (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and London City).

The freesheet was initially edited by former Sunday Times and Sunday Express journalist David Parsley, with Claire Oldfield (formerly of the Daily Mail) as deputy editor, the paper launched with a number of respected freelance contributors, drawing heavily upon sports stars (both current and former) to provide comment on a variety of sports. The sport "stars" in question include Andy Lloyd and Dean Richards.

However, David Parsley left on 24 August 2007 as editor, citing family reasons for his departure from the newspaper. [1] It was being edited by the news editor David Hellier, until the 11 February 2008 when Allister Heath, formally the editor of the failed business magazine The Business was appointed editor. [2]
