The claret jug is the trophy awarded to the winner of the British Open Golf Tournament. The trophy used today was made by Mackay Cunningham and Company of Edinburgh in 1873, the first year in which it was presented to a winner of the Open. The original cup is returned each year for presentation to the new champion. Many winners, however, privately commission copies of the jug for their personal collections.
