Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) specializes in turnaround situations. The private equity firm typically acquires noncore units of large corporations and works with existing management to improve operations. Since it was formed in 1978, CD&R has raised more than $11 billion in capital (including $4 billion for its latest fund), and has invested in more than 40 businesses in the US and Europe.
