Plot

More than one musician has tried to lay claim to the title King of Zydeco. But just as the late Elvis Presley is the undisputed King of Rock & Roll, there is only one King of Zydeco, and that is the late Clifton Chenier. This documentary features the inimitable raspy voice and electrifying presence of the King of Zydeco. The archival film clips of the performer are culled from several live concerts. Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band play many of their standards, including "I'm a Zydeco Man," "Party Down," and "I'm A Hog for You." Two separate interviews with the innovative accordion player give the viewer a taste of the man and the culture that made him the King of Zydeco. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide
