clinical crown: clinical root ratio

The proportion of the length of the portion of the tooth lying coronal to the epithelial attachment to the length of the portion of the root lying apical to the epithelial attachment. Radio-graphically the clinical crown is the portion of the tooth coronal to the alveolar crest; the clinical root is the part of the root apical to the alveolar crest. The radiographic crown: root ratio is useful in the evaluation and prognosis of periodontal disease.
