(¦klī·nə·pə′räk′sēn)

(mineralogy) The general term for any of those pyroxenes that crystallize in the monoclinic system; on occasion, these pyroxenes have large amounts of calcium with or without aluminum and the alkalies. Also known as monopyroxene clinoaugite.
