Clipper is the brand name for a type of refillable butane lighter, designed by Bryant and May. They have a rounded body aswell as a removable flint housing and flint. Most of the Clipper Lighters are produced in Spain, and the rest are produced in India. The Clipper lighter became common among lighters collectors since there are many different designs, sizes and sets.

Clipper lighter, is an important lighter brand in the world market. They are mostly produced in Spain, in a factory near Barcelona.[citation needed] The 1st Clipper lighter was made in 1972 and now the production is around 200 million units / year with a production to be distributed worldwide.[citation needed]

Associations

Many people associate the use of the clipper lighter with drug use, most commonly cannabis. This is due to the lighter flame getting bigger when the lighter is tipped upside down which is associated with cannabis because many cannabis smokers use the Clipper to light their pipes, the bigger flame enables them to do this more easily.

Why Do People Collect The Clipper

Many people collect the Clipper lighter due to the vast range of designs that clipper put on their lighters, everything from cartoon characters to Cannabis leaves. Many people also collect the different styles such as the smaller Clipper (Commonly reffered to as "The Mini Clipper").

Trivia

British band The Streets uses the Clipper lighter as their logo. The lighter, bearing the name of the band, appears on every album they made. They also sell the lighter at concerts.
