Just clipper ships aimed to promote trade by sailing across the sea, advertising-filled Clipper Magazine aims to promote its clients' businesses by sailing into consumers' mailboxes. The company publishes about 490 local and regional editions, covering markets in about 30 states throughout the US. The magazines, which include national as well as local ads, are mailed to consumers at least seven times a year -- more in larger markets. THe company also publishes coupons online and distributes restaurant menus. A subsidiary of newspaper publisher Gannett, Clipper Magazine was founded in 1983 by Steve Zuckerman, Ian Ruzow, and Bob Zuckerman.
