Process of contacting potential buyers in an area in order to solicit sales of one's products.

The process of contacting previously unknown homeowners in an area in order to solicit Listings.
Example: Abel discovers a growing demand for older homes that are close to the central business district. To increase the number of listings of such homes, Abel cold canvasses several older neighborhoods to determine owners' interest in selling.
