Colin Bailie

Colin Bailie (born 31 March, 1964) was an English professional footballer.

Starting his career at Swindon Town, he made 107 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals as a right-back before a move to Reading F.C. in 1985. Whilst at Elm Park he played a further 84 games and played at Wembley as they reached the final of the Simod Cup in 1986.

Cambridge United paid £25,000 for his services in 1988 and when new manager John Beck took over in 1990, he converted Bailie to a midfield player, a position he excelled in as the club went on a run of successive promotions and FA Cup quarter final appearances.

In 1992, Bailie shocked the club when he claimed he had lost his appetite for football and was quitting the game. He had a brief spell with Eynesbury Rovers F.C. before moving to Cumbria to become a police officer.
