With Mark Lindsay having launched a solo career in 1969, the group called "Paul Revere and the Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay" shortened its name simply to "Raiders" at the start of 1970, though the personnel did not change. This may have confused fans, however, and led to Collage being the worst-selling Raiders album on Columbia so far, while Lindsay's simultaneously released solo album, Arizona, named after his gold-selling single, hit the Top 40. The country-rock style Lindsay had been investigating over the last couple of years seemed to have given way to a harder rocking approach and an interest in anthems: the album opened with Laura Nyro's "Save the Country" and closed with the group's 1969 chart single "We Gotta All Get Together." (Also included was the chart single "Just Seventeen," which found The Raiders essaying the kind of material familiar to Grand Funk Railroad, and in a similar style.
