Biography

Named after a scientific theory used to describe the origins of black holes, Lafayette, LA's Collapsar was formed in 2002 by former Icepick Revival members Stephen Sheppert (guitars/synths) and Brett Judice (drums). Once completed by second guitarist David Graeff, Collapsar began working out their highly technical brand of progressive metalcore (bordering on math metal) into unconventional, unpredictable, and always instrumental compositions, eventually conceiving an eponymous debut released in 2005 through Escape Artist Records. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
