Columbia Banking System hopes money will flow through the Pacific Northwest through its three subsidiary banks. Columbia State Bank (also known as Columbia Bank) operates some 50 branches in Washington, from Puget Sound to the timber country in the southwestern part of the state, as well as in Oregon. Mt. Rainier Bank (acquired 2007) has seven branches in Washington's King and Pierce counties. Although it will continue to operate as the Bank of Astoria, the financial institution will merge into Columbia Banking System. Targeting individuals and local businesses, the banks offer standard retail services such as checking and savings accounts, CDs, IRAs, loans, and mortgages.
