Veterinary Dictionary: columnaris disease

A common disease of aquarium fish caused by infection with the bacteria Flexibacter columnaris (Cytophaga columnaris). It is characterized by circumscribed gray-white lesions on the skin about the head, gills and fins and on the body. Called also saddlepatch disease.
