Comberbach

Wikipedia: Comberbach
Map of Comberbach civil parish within the former borough of Vale Royal

Comberbach is a civil parish and small village in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, located between Northwich and Warrington. The village sports a new Memorial Hall (part Lottery Funded), a Bowling Club, two pubs - the Spinner and Burgamot, and the Drum and Monkey, and a post office/village shop. There is also a county primary school, and a Methodist chapel. One notable feature is a fabulous old-fashioned red phone box.

Cartoonist John Geering, famously the artist behind Bananaman was a village resident. The village has two public houses: the Drum and Monkey, and the Spinner and Bergamot.[citation needed]

The Comberbach Mummers still perform the village's traditional Soulcaking Play (a form of Mummers Play), which commences on the Eve of All Souls (31 October) and lasts for two weeks. This was re-started in the mid 1980's after a brief lapse and has been performed each year since (now 2007). The Mummers meet on most Thursday evenings in The Spinner and Bergamot for 'rehearsal'.
