The Communist Party of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Комуністична партія України, Komunistychna Partiya Ukrayiny) is a political party in Ukraine, currently led by Petro Symonenko. At the parliamentary elections on 29 March 1998, the party gained 25% of the vote and 123 seats, becoming the largest party in Parliament. At the parliamentary elections on 30 March 2002, the party won 19.98% of the popular vote and 66 out of 450 seats in the Verkhovna Rada. Since then the party has lost much support, particularly after the Orange Revolution. In the parliamentary elections on 30 September 2007, the party won 5.39% of the popular vote and 27 out of 450 seats.
The party will participate in the 2010 presidential election as part of the Election bloc of left and central left political forces.[1]
