Review
For some bands, a live album becomes a greatest-hits outing. For others, it becomes a genuine attempt to capture the wild energy of their live show. Mexico City's Los de Abajo take the latter route on this authorized bootleg, spread across two CDs. With their almost anarchic mix of ska, funk, punk, metal, soul, and Mexican music is a wonderful hybrid, and their energy level remains consistently high throughout. It's messy at times, but that's part of the fun, as they skitter around. There are plenty of audience favorites, such as "El Indio" and the opener, "Sr. Judas," and everyone, on-stage and off, works up a hefty sweat through the set, with lead singer Liber Teran constantly on the go. This is what rock & roll should be about, the freedom to have fun, play loudly, and try things, sending everyone home happy -- and exhausted. ~ Chris Nickson, All Music GuideTracks
