A fracture in which the bony structures are exposed to an external environment.
| Sports Science and Medicine: compound fracture |
Fracture in which the broken ends of a bone protrude through soft tissue and skin. It is more serious than a simple fracture because it can more readily lead to severe bone infections that require massive doses of antibiotics.
