Conquering Hero

Plot

The title character in this Lubin "comedy of errors" is the handsome young winner of a boat race. Feted as a hero by his friends, he is invited to a lavish banquet at a country estate. En route to his testimonial, the young man is waylaid by a tramp, who steals his clothes. Thus it is that the tramp is honored as the "man of the hour" at the banquet. Despite his uncouth manners, the tramp nearly gets away with his masquerade until the real Conquering Hero inevitably shows up. Once exposed, the tramp takes flight, bringing this one-reeler to a typical "chase finish." ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
