Conran (7th century (?)), bishop. Although he is often believed to have been the apostle of the Orkneys and especially of Kirkwall, there are no place-names or dedications connected with him there, although there are several to Colm. The Bollandists numbered him among the praetermissi…et rejecti, and several standard Scottish reference books have nothing to say about any evidence for him working in the Orkneys. His existence must be considered doubtful. Feast: 14 February.
