A consul general heads a consulate general and is a consul of the highest rank serving at a principal location and usually responsible for other consular offices within a country. The Counsul General serves as an adviser who speaks on behalf of his or her state in the country to which he or she is located. It is abbreviated "CG" and the plural is consuls general.
