Oman has a bicameral parliament. The Consultative Assembly (Majlis al-Shura) has 83 elected members with only consultative tasks. However, the monarch makes final selections and can negate election results; body has some limited power to propose legislation, but otherwise has only advisory powers. Oman doesn't allow political parties. Only non-partisans have been elected. The other chamber is the Council of State (Majlis al-Dawla).
