Biography

Contraband is a short-lived supergroup showcasing obscure vocalist Richard Black from Shark Island, Vixen Share Pedersen on bass, and RattBobby Blotzer on the skins. The redoubtable twin-axe-attack of Michael Schenker and Tracii Guns round out this powerhouse, heaved into the hair market by a hungry label. Excepting a flurry of radio play for driving sizzler "All the Way From Memphis," the quintet's lone effort promptly disappeared. This lost debut is not a bad bit of poodleheaded tomfoolery, but nothing more. ~ Doug Stone, All Music Guide

Contraband was a short-lived supergroup/side project that included members of several famous rock bands from the 1980s, such as Ratt, Vixen and L.A. Guns.

Contraband came to be after a Vixen and Ratt unplugged session on MTV. Schenker was a guest guitarist on that show.

The band released only one self-titled album in 1991 which received lukewarm reviews. The album was a commercial failure and the band disbanded shortly after, whilst touring with Ratt. Their only chart entry in the UK was with their cover single, "All the Way from Memphis" in July 1991.[1]
