Biography
Mexican Latin rap group Control Machete burst into the local rock and rap scene in the mid-'80s, making its debut with the release of Mucho Barato in July of 1997. Led by Fermín IV, Pato (later Patricio Ch. Elizalde), and Toy Kenobi (Toy Hernández), the band returned in March of 1999 with Artilleria Pesada, produced by Antonio Hernández and Jason Roberts. In addition, Fermín IV recorded a song alongside Cypress Hill called "Siempre Peligroso," which was featured on the album Grandes Exitos en Español. He also participated in Chris Vrenna's project Tweaker and played with Los Angeles-based hip-hop act OMD. The long parade of outside work may have caused his exit from the band, just after his 2002 solo debut Boomerang. The rest of the band returned in 2003 with a new direction and a new record, Uno, Dos: Bandera. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide

Control Machete is a Mexican hip hop group from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Its members are Fermin IV (listed as Fermin IV Caballero Elizondo in credits), Patricio "Pato" Chapa Elizalde, and Toy Kenobi (Antonio "Toy" Hernández). [1]
The group moved to the mainstream after their song "Sí Señor" was used as backing in the Levi'sSuper Bowltelevision commercial "Crazy Legs". However, their debut album was already a bestseller, with 100,000 units sold in Mexico and 400,000 in Latin America.[citation needed]
Fermin IV left the band in 2002 and released a solo album, Boomerang. He also collaborated with Cypress Hill on the track "Siempre Peligroso" on their album Los grandes éxitos en español.
Hernández became active as a DJ and producer under the name "Toy Selectah", and was A&R of the Reggaeton label Machete Music, whose name is in part a reference to Control Machete.[2]
