Sweet sodas and diet dishes alike get their taste from Corn Products International. The company makes food ingredients and industrial products from corn and other starch-based raw materials. Its customers include food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and paper manufacturers. More than half of its sales come from sweeteners, including high-fructose corn syrup used to sweeten soft drinks. The company also produces corn starch (a thickener for processed foods), corn oil, and corn gluten (for animal feed).
