Cornelius Van Schaak Roosevelt (1794-1871) was the grandfather of Theodore Roosevelt and the great-grandfather of Eleanor Roosevelt.
Cornelius Van Schaak Roosevelt was born to James Jacobus Roosevelt (1759-1840) and Maria Van Schaak (1773-1845). He married Margaret Barnhill (1799-1861) and had many children, including Weir Roosevelt, Robert Roosevelt (1829-1906) and Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. (1831-1878), father of the U.S. president, Theodore Roosevelt.
