(kə′rek·tiv mānt·ən·əns)

(computer science) The maintenance performed as required, on an unscheduled basis, by the contractor following equipment failure. Also known as remedial maintenance.
(engineering) A procedure of repairing components or equipment as necessary either by on-site repair or by replacing individual elements in order to keep the system in proper operating condition.
